A dog owner was killed in a hit-out in south Winnipeg Wednesday night after he tried to stop a car with a dog in it, police said.
It happened on the east side of the city just after 9:30 p.m. on South Main Street near the intersection of Main and Main Streets.
A black Toyota Camry travelling west on Main Street, south on Main St., hit a parked vehicle, and flipped, according to police.
The driver and a female passenger died at the scene.
The vehicle’s owner was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Camry driver was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.
Police said the owner and his female passenger were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
No charges have been laid at this time.
No dog was injured in the crash.
Police have not released a description of the vehicle.
