Now you can keep your kitties, cats, and other pets out of the way on the beaches and in the water in Hawaii.
The state’s Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) announced that dogs and cats can be leashed from the shoreline, at the shore, in the ocean, or in any other public location, including parks and beaches.
“We’ve worked closely with our partners at the county, state, and federal levels to ensure that this important policy is not only achievable, but enforced in a safe manner,” said DLNR Director Tom Hargrove in a press release.
“In order to get the job done, we need your help.
Please join us in supporting the new leashes and make sure that your kitty, cat, or dog is safe on your beach or in the pool.”
To help enforce the new leash law, the state will be holding public comment periods on the new regulations through September 3.
